Happy Hogswatch!

Last weekend, we celebrated Hogswatch! For anyone familiar with Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, Hogswatch is a Christmas-like holiday first mentioned in Hogfather:
Traditionally associated with pig-killing, to ensure there is enough food for the rest of the winter. Many Hogswatch traditions are parodies of those associated with Christmas, including a decorated oak tree in a pot, strings of paper sausages, and, of course, a visit by the Hogfather.

I've celebrated Hogswatch for ten years now, ever since our local little town, Wincanton, was legally twinned with Ankh-Morpork back in 2002. It's even on the official road sign for Wincanton. The whole town puts on (or puts up with) the event, including several pubs, the post office and a couple of cafes. There were poetry readings, a play, talks with Terry Pratchett and various other Discworld collaborators, a charity auction, and other random oddities. Admittedly, we spent most of our time in the 'Fauna Exotica' room at the back of one of the pubs, where a guy (donning an 'Actually, I'm a Reptile Wizard' t-shirt) had set up his menagerie of snakes, lizards, spiders and giant frogs. People braved the rain and cold to wear their best robes, wizarding accessories and witchy attire, and we even had an extremely authentic Cohen the Barbarian. The evenings were spent at the annual Sausage Supper, or partaking in the Sunday night pub quiz, where we displayed our usual lack of general knowledge. Sadly, I didn't take many photos that look all that festive or Hogswatch-y, but it was a pretty awesome weekend, as usual.

Excellent!
Can't quite recall now but think he may have fallen shortly before Discworld and missed it for that reason.
