Eff you, kitty.

Yesterday, lazenich, digicowboy, ivywag and myself went to see The Presidents of the USA in concert. I admit, I only really knew of their "big" songs, Lump, Kitty, Peaches, but I had an absolutely fantastic time. They were amazing live, loads of energy and heaps of fun.

There were two warmup bands; one was a Bristol based guy called Kid Carpet who wasn't very good at all. He got progressively better as his (short) set went on, but the only real appeal was that he used a few toy instruments for his (Happyhardcore/dance type, and therefore not really to my taste at all) songs.

Then we had Jrock! Oh god, these guys, what were they called?, Electric Eel or something, were from Japan and played the most awesome heavy metal stuff. They were so much fun, if a little batshit. At the end of the Presidents' set, they came out and handed the audience a crate of Jagermeister.

So yes. It was a great evening. We ended up back at Wix's (ivywag's) place, ordering pizza, playing Guitar Hero and watching Family Guy and Nevermind The Buzzcocks. NERDS.

Fuck you kitty, you're gonna spend the night... OUTSIDE!!

Ooh, so they're playing a range of stuff, not just the new album?

I'm going to see them tomorrow night, I can't wait.

Did they have the brass section with them? They used one in a load of songs on the new album.

We've got the same support, I'm looking forward to hearing the Jrock as well now. And Happy Hardcore? I know it's not for you but that is gonna go down so well with one of the guys I'm going with. :D

*even more excited*

Also, hahahaha, I remember last time when I came down and played their album Freaked Out and Small at DC's bbq, I was berated for playing someone who is 'a cheap copycat of TMBG'. That was SUCH a lie. XD

Yes they played a wide range. :) LOTS from the new album, though. Which I really want to get now.

No brass section, just three guys. That's a shame, that woulda been epic. And don't count on my getting the genre right - I don't know if the dude WAS Happy hardcore, it's just that's exactly what I associate with the term! Though to be honest, I don't know if he'll be there with you because I ASSUMED he was a local act for the specific venue, given BRISTOL and all.

I can't wait to hear what you think of the show :D

(btw; you coming to Bristol comic con!?)

The new album is well worth getting.

He will be there, I looked up who the support is for here. :)

Re: Bristol, I wanted to talk to you about that actually, because my coming to the con kinda depends on if I can crash on anyone's sofa. Because I can't really afford a hotel... And I'm not sure what is happening on the front now the Guild House is no more.

The guy was NOT Happy Hardcore. XD

This is happy hardcore.

And he played his Bristol song. To the Manchester crowd. It was somewhat leadballoonish. XD

Good gig though.

"Little blue dune buggay! In the sand."
... that was a favorite. :3

They split up for a while, but reformed a couple of years ago, and made 'Love Everybody', and then 'These Are The Good Times People' which came out a couple of weeks ago. (I was really surprised, I found out they'd reformed by hearing the single 'Some Postman' in a train station and thinking 'Hey, that sounds like the Presidents, I wonder who it is' and googling it only to find it sounded like them because that's who it was. XD)

Not sure if you know how much of a HUGE Presidents fan I am...but yeah, I see them everytime they come 'round...

You *DO* know Weird Al directed the music video for their new song, "Mixed Up SOB", right?

I'm on their website ALL THE TIME...PUSA is to Ian as Boingo is to Sel
