BEDA #4 - Shopping in Portsmouth

With Kitacon around the corner, and Luke's birthday tomorrow, today was a day for some serious shopping. I had a list and everything.

You'll have to ignore the top part, which was a list of ideas for Luke's birthday present and obviously can't be seen until I see him myself. (And yes, I know I spent 'fascinator' wrong.)

I don't often make shopping lists. I rarely go out with something specific in mind; shopping is my go-to recreational sport and it's one I'll never willingly quit. However, when I am on a deadline (as is the case of Kitacon next Thursday) to get a bunch of stuff done, I become an OCD list addict. Which would be fine, of course, if I actually bothered adhering to it in any shape or form.

I didn't buy black shoes, vintage looking tights or a prom dress. I found a bunch of fascinators, but none suitable for what I have in mind. I did, however, manage to spend £40 in Superdrug on various foundations and hair dyes, so what I lack in pretty formal-ware, I make up (dyswidt?) in faking a smooth complexion. It ain't exactly win-win, but it'll do, pig. It'll do.

Oh, and I came home to this awesome package from the Valve Store. I'm getting the lithograph signed by John Patrick Lowrie, the voice artist for the Sniper in Team Fortress 2. Since the Sniper is pretty much the only reason I even tried the game out in the first place, I'm going crazy imagining meeting the guy who brought him to life. I hope I don't become a wibbling mess in front of him (I probably will.)

One of the folks I follow on Twitter recently posted about a red octopus fascinator she'd made, thought it might interest you.
it's available in her Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/listing/97119073/red-felt-octopus-fascinator
