Despite nursing a horrible cold from PonyCon last weekend, I've been in a pretty great place, mentally, lately. My art seems to be going well, commissions roll in when I open for them, and I'm selling pretty well at cons. My relationship with Moose is going just swell (we're closer to three years than two now, isn't that insane?) and I'm spending all my free time playing video games and watching Mad Men. If it wasn't for this stupid cold I've had for a week now, I'd say my current life is definitely pretty damned awesome, at the moment.

Since I've been a bit of a blogging slacker, here's what I've been up to since July~

...I celebrated Moose's birthday by grabbing a bunch of his friends and demanding we Do Cool Things. We ate a lot of Chinese food, went to Gamerbase in the Trocadero to play some video games together, then discovered Lasertag where Moose, predictably, got the highest score. The next day, he and I went exploring around London to soak up the Olympic atmosphere (rememeber that? Sure feels like a long time ago, now!) South Bank was done up so beautifully with lanturns, entertainment tents and a little funfair. It was like being in a fairy garden (even had toadstalls to sit on!), I loved it so, so much and hope it comes back next year!

...Later in August, I sold art at BUCK, the UK's first 'Friendship is Magic' convention. I didn't see much of the convention itself, being stuck behind the table n' all, but I had an awesome time meeting other fans and generally nerding out. I also sold more gaming related art here than I expected! Bronies b gamers.

...in September Sarah, Moose, Luke and I had our annual trip to the Great Dorset Steam Fair, where we ate hog roast, drank cider, played in funhouses and listened to music. I shamefacedly stole most of these photos from Sarah's Facebook gallery, because I didn't take many. I'm a terrible blogger.

...and later that month, Moose, his parents and I went on a Showboat Cruise along the Thames, which I sadly didn't get any photos of. We stopped in the water to watch the Thames Festival fireworks, and they were spectacular. I love sharing moments like that with him. So many awesome memories.

I helped Moose move back down to Plymouth for university, and fell in love with his new place. He forgot to bring any plates. Still, we feasted like kings.

And then the same week, we went to a Jonathan Coulton concert in Bristol. He's the guy made famous for writing the two end songs from the Portal games, and I absolutely adore his shows. I've seen him every time he toured the UK, and honestly rate his concerts among the best I've ever been to. He's usually accompanied by a comedy double act called Paul & Storm who just rock the whole evening. Seriously, so much love for these gigs. I wouldn't miss 'em for the world. I wore my Long Fall socks (which replicate the boots in the Portal games) and had Jonathan Coulton sign 'em. It was pretty neat!

And then, finally, bringing us up to last weekend; UK PonyCon! Which was... an experience. I'm on the committee for the con and I had an absolute - exhausting - blast. We had Bronies and oldschool collectors alike and it was just so awesome seeing everyone getting along and enjoying every aspect of My Little Pony! We ran loads of panels and games and screenings and it was just 100% awesome, even if some of the press we received was a little tiresome, to say the least! (Still, that Sun article has a bunch of awesome photos, so at least something good came of it!)
Why yes, that is us recreating Gangnam Style. With a random Storm Trooper. Thanks for asking!

I'll leave you with a video of some pony karaoke! I'm half way through, butchering 'This Day' with Archer. By the first day of PonyCon I'd entirely lost my voice (happens to me every convention) and Archer was evil enough to force me to sing despite it. Bah!

Yes I did! Sorry, I forgot to mention it! Thanks so much!

And yeah, I'm glad you're around because you take so many awesome photos. I really need to get back in the habit, but I've not been able to charge my camera for ages and my phone's usually dead before I take many photos ¬_¬ I'm so glad you take loads! <3

Would showing up at the Steam Fair in a Steampunk Pirate getup be frowned upon, or welcomed? Because if you guys'll have me, I'd love to tag along sometime, and idk, waltzing about in costume at a fair seems like fun!

You've gotten to do so many awesome things this year, I'm so happy for you :) <3

Expo is only a week and a half away, oh my god! Can't wait to see you again :D
