October MCM Expo 2012 :)

Last weekend was MCM Expo, or London Comic Con, or MCM Comic Con, or whatever the heck it wants to call itself these days. As usual, I had a table in the artists alley selling prints, posters, badges and things. It was awesome! The whole con felt so much different than the previous years, because the event itself had a ton of new things to see and do. Usually Expo feels a bit like a giant dealer's room with little else to do, but this October they had screenings, a Japanese food market, a 'Doctor Who Experience' thing where we got a free photo of ourselves green screened into a scene from Doctor Who, and various other things. I don't set up my table on the Friday, and usually spend the day mooching around enjoying the con - Friday's the quietest day of the weekend so it's a great chance to play some games and actually look around the stalls without being trampled.

On Friday I cosplayed as Mabel from Gravity Falls, and I'm so, so glad I did! We're both huge dorks, and playing as her gave me the best excuse to just completely let loose and nerd out! Luke and Moose formed or little group as Grunkle Stan and Dipper respectively. It was really fun spotting other Gravity Falls cosplayers, because the show is so new and everyone seemed so happy to find more Mabels or Dippers or Stans, haha.

On the Saturday, I cosplayed as Pinkie Pie in her Gala dress, mainly because there was a UK of Equestria meetup at the con. Sadly, I didn't take many photos at all. I was stuck behind my table most the time, and when I did escape, it was generally to do something (like go eat). I don't really mind though, since I can relive Expo vicariously through everyone else's wonderful photos. Gotta say, this was the best Expo yet. The atmosphere was amazing, we met a ton of awesome people and there was no drama (on our part) at all. Sales were good, art fans were great and it was all just lovely. I can't wait until May!

I first saw them from folks at American conventions - they're called Wire Cubes here and I bought a ton of 'em off Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safco-Wire-Cubes-in-Black/dp/B006SHL24C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346602883&sr=8-1

They're REALLY good for displaying art and crafts though - a total table space saver!
