London MCM Expo was amazing! Having a table there this time was absolutely fantastic. Because so many people were happy to sit around and look after it while I ran off and did nerdish things, I didn't feel like I missed out at all by having a table. I still got to the TF2/Valve photoshoot and still had time to hide from people offering 'free hugs'.
Seriously, London Expo is so much fun. It's entirely different from a real convention, there's not a lot to do there besides hang out and take photos, but I still think it's my favourite event. I really had no idea what to expect in terms of having an artist alley table this year - I had no idea what would be popular or what would sell well. People loved my Captain Falcon stuff but it was the TF2 fanart that really sold. Had I actually bothered to have any Doctor Who art there, I'm sure it would have sold pretty well too, because people went nuts for my Who related badges. I actually sold out of A3 prints, including one guy who said he was going to frame it for his living room! It's so weird to think people like my stuff that much. It's amazingly cool.
Aside from sales (which were great, they covered convention costs), it was ace for exposure too. I've had several people message me on Facebook or DeviantART saying they grabbed a card from my stall. I can't help but think it can only get better, now I've got a better idea of what people want and what people don't want to see. I'm definitely, definitely having a table again in May. I just wish the next Expo wasn't soooo far away.
Because Expo fell on Halloween weekend, there were people actually cosplaying as Nightmare Before Christmas characters. This guy more than made up for a non-Halloweeny Halloween.
So yeah. You can see the rest of my photos here.
