Right, update time!

As you can see, I started Sketchavember with the greatest intentions, but completely forgot that I'd be away for a family holiday in Madeira for a week, so that plan went by the way!

Madeira was fantastic, though. It was our first family holiday in years, due to circumstances (grandparents being ill, mainly) and we just wanted a cheap, different holiday. Mext year we're going to America for a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to get back there!

I gotta say, Madiera was the most 'spectacular' destination I've ever been to. The mountains were absolutely out of this world; it was like seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time, absolutely mindblowing. The photos we took do not do them justice.

We were staying in a villa in the mountains, and the climate there was always overcast and a bit rainy. If we drove down to Funchel, their capital, we'd enter this awesome microclimate where you had to strip off your winter clothes and put on shorts and t-shirt. It was fabulous! In the evenings we'd be curled up by a fire, and during the day we'd be in brilliant sunshine.

We ended up checking out little traditional 'A' houses, exploring lava caves, chasing lizards and scaling the mountain in a little skylift. It was an awesome little break.

In the evenings I spent a lot of time browsing the internet on my iPod and mainly spending time on DA. It made me want to actually get myself involved in DA. I use the place to upload art, but I don't really get myself involved, enter competitions or generally endulge the community side of it. So yeah, that. I've spent most my time back at home working on wordpress/websites/commissions. It's a lazy sort of motivation I can deal with between vidya gaems until I sit down and actually do some real art.

If you liked that, I can definitely recommend a trip to Timanfaya on Lanzarote. It is mindblowingly alien and beautiful :)

I was about to say "I live near madiera! Why would you want to go there?" Till I saw the mountains and realized "Oh, different Madiera" >.>

Far as microclimates go, guy I used to buy my smokes from was Middle Eastern and he had stories about mountains back home that people would go ski on in summer and get sunburned while doing so.

Oh man that's weird. I loved it, it was sooo different to anything I'm used to here in England.

We've got a Madiera beach near where I live. And it looks nothing like that, unless you squint and pretend the mountains are hotels.
