I don't post on LiveJournal much these days because the whole place seems to be dying a death and I'll be honest with you, it's pretty demoralising crafting a post or showing art and getting zero feedback for your efforts. That said, I've always maintained a blog and regardless of comments, I know I'll regret it in the future when I look back and realise I've missed large chunks of my life on my otherwise steady 'diary' online.
So there's that.
Firstly, here's some art. I've been busy away at a committee meeting for Ponycon so I'm a little behind, but I'll get cracking on my list in a couple of days.
One of my $5 sketch commissions.
A little bit of fanart for League of Legends, a game I've been stupidly into lately. It's a free to play dota-esque... thing with some awesome characters. One character, Rammus, has a skin (not so coincidentally called 'King Rammus') that bears a striking resemblance to a certain King Koopa.
Ponycon!
Anyway, as I already mentioned, I'm on the UK Ponycon committee this year. My official title is 'Fundraising Assistant' to my awesome friend Laura, but I've sort of been promoted to 'Official Internet Make Go', giving me a chance to redesign the website, get the blog up and running, create art for all the banners and logos and generally giving the whole place a bit of bang. Jess and I are both 'just' assistants and both embracing that as our chance to work on other things alongside the big projects - we're throwing ourselves into marketing and promotion. Jess is already revamping the official Facebook and Twitter, while I'm umming and ahhing about a Ponycon Podcast to accompany the blog and website.
Ponycon is an awesomely fun little convention but it's getting a little stale, and has always been pretty faceless. In a community as small as the MLP collecting one, there's no excuse not to make the convention vibrant and full of personality, so the whole theme for the committee this year has been 'rebrand, refresh, relaunch!' This year's committee is full of complete nuts, so we're going to get things done in a really great way this time. I can't wait to get the whole thing rolling!
I'm also hoping getting involved in this will improve my chances of being further involved in other conventions, especially from a web promotion/blogging/marketing standpoint. I've wanted an excuse to get into 'proper' blogging for ages (as opposed to livejournal rambles), so it's all pretty great right now.
Saw Tangled yesterday in the cinema and going again on Saturday! I loved it so so much. The music had a really old feel to it, like an old musical or stage production, really. I love love love 'I've Got a Dream', it sounds like it could be right out of something like Calamity Jane. It's pretty much my favourite Disney song since something out of the Lion King.

I dunno, everyone keeps saying how lj is dying but personally I haven't seen my friends page decrease in size any. Is Ponycon just a yay we love ponies too type of convention or is it one of the trading ones with exclusive ponies?
Ponycon is largely trade stalls like a toy fair, with added competitions and games. Unlike the US MLP Fair, every penny of "profit" we make goes to charity, so we do our very best to raise as much as we can for as little as we can. :) Of course, the most fun is just geeking out with friends, too.
(And that Smooth icon - totally all me today. Jeez!)
I'll try and be more vocal. Sometimes though it's me that is the problem because I either don't know what to say or feel like "They don't know me! Who am I to make a comment?". Stupid for sure because it's all about communication but still that's my reaction. :-|
That said, you should totally comment moar! :D I've made some of my best friends by random people just randomly saying hi!
Also, since you're on the committee, I once asked Mew (don't remember the full name..) how you all go about setting up a con. I never got answers. I so love to organise one here in Holland and would love some input.
The MAIN thing you just need is a venue, though. We used to have MLP "meets" that were larger than a house gathering, but never declaired a convention. You just need a hall willing to accept you, and to sell table space that people can buy for selling/trading on. The table sales/ticket sales end up paying for your venue (in theory). Start really cheap and work up as interest grows, no point going for big hotels or convention centres if you've enough people for a small town hall, say.
Anything specific I can help with / ask about for you? <3
And I saw a couple of clips of that new MLP show and I actually dig the animation! It's very Flashy, but the good kind of Flashy, y'know?
Just my two cents. To get a little, you got to give a little too. I've been bad about it at times, but I do try and at least make the effort to connect with people.
I think all the fandom crap killed off a lot of LJ - it's a very fandommy place and after the strikeouts and stuff, a LOT of people moved to dreamwidth or whzatever it's called. I know I lost several people I used to enjoy reading to it. :\
As for the MLP show, omg. I had no idea a flash cartoon could look so good until I saw it! It's getting RAVE reviews from people who aren't necessarily MLP fans, it's insane and really really inspiring.

Dragonshy and Call of the Cutie are popular, if you don't wanna watch 'em in order. :D
I was actually pleasantly surprised with Tangled. I really loved it. The music does remind me of a broadway play too X) Especially Mother Knows Best. I really can't wait until the DVD release. I thought I wouldn't like it as much as I did thinking it would come across as trying to hard but it didn't : D
Am super jealous of you seeing Tangled, I still haven't found chance to go *sad face* I'm not surprised about the music, Alan Menken rules <3
I HOPE it never goes because I love the place so much, and because I've like 10 years of my life on here, but it IS pretty depressing. I never see art posted anymore, it's kinda sad. :(
I've been sucked into the facebook thing, and I have a wordpress blog. I still randomly come back here to catch up on my ppl and post things that I don't want to leave marked as public.. but yea. There is so much social media out there, its hard to decide which one to give your love to.
~hugs~ I've always loved your art and Im sorry I don't post more to say so :) keep it up!
